Inauguration of the NEBourhoods Pavilion
January 2024: UnternehmerTUM in Neuperlach: In early January, we celebrated the official opening of the NEBourhoods Pavilion in the heart of Neuperlach. After the opening of our UnternehmerTUM MakerSpace GmbH container last summer, this is the second installation in Neuperlach.
The NEBourhoods Pavilion is part of "Creating NEBourhoods Together", the EU lighthouse project for the New European Bauhaus. The pavilion, which is located at Theodor-Heuss-Platz in Neuperlach, will remain open until the end of January 2025. It will serve as an innovation demonstrator, gallery and workshop space for project activities and beyond.
The opening was characterised by motivation and enthusiasm for change. Numerous citizens and key stakeholders from Neuperlach were present and shared their experiences of working together on the NEBourhoods project over the past year.
Once again, the importance of entrepreneurship to urban development was emphasised. In the spirit of the New European Bauhaus, we should work together to tackle the challenges of our time. That is exactly what we are doing in the NEBourhoods project - supporting each individual in shaping their neighbourhood together.
The NEBourhoods Pavilion is an excellent example of this. With the help of one of our founding partners, the City of Munich, and Elisabeth Merk in particular, we were able to build the pavilion and now provide added value to the Neuperlach community.
The modular timber construction is a flexible and sustainable building system developed by Timo Weil's start-up WEON. The construction is foldable, making it easy to transport and adapt to different space requirements. The pavilion stands on stilts; individual modules can be changed, stacked, combined, dismantled and customised inside and out at any time. More information about the system can be found on the WEON GmbH website.
