CrAFting Tomorrow's Cities!
February 2024. Fostering interdisciplinary co-creation in living labs was the topic of the panel organised by HM:UniverCity at the CrAFt Cities Alliance meeting in Amsterdam from 26 to 28 February.
Our lively discussion about various co-creative processes revealed a rich tapestry of methods across governmental, academic, and economic landscapes in the EU. Key takeaways strengthened our decision to implement both a robust community management system and a creative pool to integrate arts and culture into the NEBourhoods project.
Why are these insights pivotal?
- The power of connection and humanity. These are our catalyst for innovation and the spirit that propels our work forward. Engaging in earnest dialogue with and involving the community in our projects does not just enrich them – it defines them.
- Community and culture are at the heart of our urban living spaces. By incorporating local artists with our project partner KTKUK, we do more than just design spaces; we craft experiences that reflect the voice and heritage of the community.
The collective knowledge of European innovators was nothing short of inspiring. A tip of the hat to our peers from Cultuurcampus, BOSS, NEB-STAR, EHHUR and the CrAft - Creating Actionable Futures Team from NTNU, as well as the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, ELIA and so many more who set the stage for this collaboration.
Our highlights?
The enlightening New European Bauhaus Impact Model session hosted by Marjan Khaleghi. We eagerly anticipate utilising this tool for our NEBourhoods project to come up with our very own creation from effective, co-created urban design.
And last but not least, the release of the jointly developed NEB Alliance Manifesto, which will spread the ideas of the NEB and expand the network beyond the core NEB target groups.
