Perlach Süd Commercial District Testbed: Networking local companies with start-ups to develop sustainable solutions
March 2024. Methods for upcycling hop waste into building materials, microbiogas plants that convert organic waste into energy, vertical farming technology for sustainable food production and digital tools for energy and floor space efficiency and for health management: the range of content presented to Neuperlach's tradespeople, local politicians and other stakeholders by the start-ups at the "Innovation Forum – Networking Neuperlach's businesses & start-ups" in March 2024 could have hardly been broader.
The brief presentations at the Innovation Forum were followed by lively exchanges at the individual start-up booths in search of intersecting areas of possible collaboration. The discussions featured relevant advice and business ideas on the one hand, regional offers, entrepreneurial experience and knowledge about local needs on the other. The desire for change, for trying out new ways and breaking new ground, for a joint search for innovative solutions was palpable among all participants – the shared aim of shaping our future sustainably.
As part of Creating NEBourhoods Together, the Department of Labour and Economic Development of the City of Munich is therefore working in and with the Perlach Süd commercial district as a testbed for trying out innovative strategies for small and medium-sized businesses and for developing solutions to urban challenges.
