Creating a Movement Together: THE FESTIVAL of the New European Bauhaus
April 2024. Synergies, collaboration, networking, interdisciplinary dialogue, learning, replication … The idea of "together" was the spirit of the fair during THE FESTIVAL of the New European Bauhaus in Brussels.
The enriching exchange with visitors at our stand and during the tours is not only helpful as a reflection of our own work, but also offers opportunities for cooperation with projects and communities throughout Europe. The starting points may be different for the individual projects, but the vision of a sustainable and, in particular, affordable lifestyle for all leads to similar questions, concepts and challenges: e.g. how to deal with existing buildings, how to implement circularthinking in terms of use and materials – and the challenge of avoiding gentrification effects in the course of refurbishing and transforming neighbourhoods.
In our living labs, we all find the same answer: the creativepower that is inherent in everyone and that we awake and empower in collaboration with our artists has incredible potential to connect people with the environment and nature in a new and more sustainable way. It is important to make participation directly visible and thus make it clear that everyone can make a contribution – starting with the youngest members of our society and continue in intergenerational dialogue.
The direct neighbourhood with our Lighthouse demonstrator colleagues – Bauhaus of the Seas Sails, CultuurCampus, Desire an Irresistible Circular Society, Eyes Hearts Hands Urban Revolution and NEB-STAR – in the Cour Carrée of the Royal Museums of Art and History of Belgium and the intensive dialogues that accompanied it as well as our joint workshop were not least an enrichment that made the power of together visible.
Here in Brussels, at The Festival of the NewEuropeanBauhaus, network is not only experienced, but lived. As the green transformation of our society can only succeed together.
